Stampede

4" x 20" - Acrylic on Illustration Board

Here is the completed painting...I'm pleased with the way it turned out and feel this is what the client has in mind. These horses were fun but a challenge to say the least! I am soooo ready for larger brushes!

The old computer could not be revived (at a reasonable expense) so brought home a shiny new desktop and I'm a happy blogger once more! It's been about two weeks since I've visited your blogs so can't wait to see what you've been painting/creating while I was "unplugged"!

  1. Rosemary, the horses turned out great! I love them. My eyes were immediately drawn to the two Appaloosas in the middle of the herd. (Of course I always loved apps.)

Congratulations on the new computer too. I know you are really glad to be back online. So, what's next on your easel?

  2. This is so beautiful, Rosemary! I am reminded of videos/movies in which I've seen wild horses running on beaches, or even in the western wilds. There is such a sense of wild abandon, of untamed freedom. And you've captured the wind! How absolutely glorious!!! So glad you are back and have a new computer too!!

  3. Thanks Beth! I like Apps too...glad you zeroed in on those! Yes, it's great being back on line with my own computer!

On the easel is a pet portrait commission - a cocker spaniel and also a portrait of a beautiful young mother and her baby...both oil - working on both today. I wish I were as fast as you! Are you going to do more large flowers? Love those tulips!

  4. Thanks so much, Sherry! This painting would have been a joy on a large canvas or board. So glad you get the "feel" of the open space and action! Your comments are so very appreciated!

  5. Rosemary this is a gorgeous piece, I know they will love it. It is quite complicated and only 4" tall. Wow, all of those legs.

  6. Thanks, Barb! I hope they will be pleased with it! Yeah - those legs and feet were giving me problems - somewhat solved by letting them create dust circles! Is that cheating? ;-)

  7. Gee Rosemary. I was thinking the same as Barbara. All those legs!!! Incredable. I love the action in it. You really see them going somewhere.
And a relative small painting. Are you not tempted to paint it again and then really large?

  8. Thanks for stopping by MJ - I am not tempted to paint it again larger - This will do for a while! For a night or two I was seeing legs in my sleep!
