Double Trouble
30 x 18 Oil on Canvas
"Double Trouble" left my easel for its new home this week! This painting of Jackson and Sugar was commissioned as a companion to the portrait of Jackson's sister, Jordan. A few years ago I painted Jordan at this same age wearing the same little bibbed overalls holding her doll. That portrait appears in the slide show. Jackson and Sugar posed in front of Grandma's and Grandpa's brick house where Jackson has enjoyed climbing the old knarled tree since he was a toddler. Every brushstroke in this one was fun! Jackson, Jordan and Sugar are adorable and I am honored to have had this privilege of painting them

Another great Rosie painting. This is a wow. You should write some of these stories down. They are wonderful as stories as well as paintings. Your devoted art admirer,Silvia
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful portrait and I know it will give the new owner years of fond memories. I agree with Silvia, it's a "wow" painting! Thanks for the kind words on my city rooftop painting.
ReplyDeleteSil and Ann, so happy you like the portrait! Thanks you both so much! I really enjoy narative paintings, Sil - a real fan of Norman Rockwell! Both of you had very creative entries for the DSFDF city rooftop challenge! I wasn't brave enough to go for it!
ReplyDeleteOh so lovely Rosemary! What a wonderful commission and the new owners will absolutely love it, I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteI thought this was a fantastic painting when I saw the feet and Sugar! Am blown away by the whole of it. Jackson brings a smile to my face and I wonder if he is as impish as he looks! And that adoring look on Sugar's face for her boy! Just perfection, Rosemary!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Liz! I, too, hope they will love it as much as they do the portrait of Jordan! It's so precious seeing how much Jackson likes it already!
ReplyDeleteAutumnLeaves, what nice things you say! Thank you so very much! As for "impish" Jackson's nick name is "Action Jackson" if that tells you anything :-) He and Sugar are quite a team! I really appreaciate your comments!
ReplyDeleteI, too, think this is a great painting, Rosemary. I'm awed by the size. The 2 paintings will look great together.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pat! I prefer this size to smaller...and it's the same size as the portrait of Jordan. I appreciate your comments!
ReplyDeleteRose, I love this portrait! It reminds me of my son at this age. You did a great job!
ReplyDeleteI love this portrait. I enjoy most portraying people in familiar/comfortable surroundings, so this painting just reaches out.
ReplyDeleteHe is sooooooooo cute! I love the portrait. Congrats on your commission. Well done Rose!

ReplyDeleteThis is so wonderful Rosemary, I bet they just love it. Love the bibs.
ReplyDeleteLois, Thanks so much for stopping by! Your work is awesome and your comments mean a lot!
ReplyDeleteWow Barb! Thank you! Isn't it fun painting these children?! The one you recently did of your little grandson in bright sunlight is fabulous!
