Autumn's Shy One
30" x 24" Oil on Canvas
This painting was one of five that went to Susan Livengood’s Sleeping Stones Gallery for next weekend’s county wide Annual Artists Studio Tour sponsored by the Haywood County Arts Council. Susan’s big, bold, energetic art is so exciting as is her gallery and I am honored to have been invited to participate. Thank you Susan! The address and a map may be found on the above websites.
While this piece was started a while ago, turning leaves outside my studio window, a brisk fall nip in the air and Susan’s invitation provided the inspiration needed to get it back on the easel. Seems I can’t get away from painting horses!

ReplyDeleteLiz, thanks so much! I'm so glad you like this one. It took a bit of a turn from my usual - but I'm pleased with it!
ReplyDeleteCindi and Rishi - your comments are so appreciated! This one was so much fun to do and a nice change from faces! I'm glad you see it as mysterious with atomosphere! Thank you! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pat! I love this Gallery and my representational pieces seem to compliment Susan's large more abstract ones. So glad you like this painting!
ReplyDeleteSo nice Rosemary, congrats on the show. Let us know how things go.
ReplyDeleteThank you Barb. Am looking forward to the weekend. Glad you had fun painting outside today. Looking forward to seeing your roses.
ReplyDeleteI love the aura of mystery in this piece, and the horse is lovely. But what really takes my breath away, Rosemary, are your recent, stunning mother and child portraits. It is amazing how you have captured the individual personalities and the relationship in each portrait.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous. I love how it looks like an abstract at first, and then you see the horse. Really fine.
ReplyDeleteI love the mystery of this piece and the light. Happy about your new gallery invite. Your art has a feeling of the old masters especially colors and use of light.Silvia
ReplyDeleteWOW! You've captured a chilly harvest moon kind of night! LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteMary, thanks for the comments re this piece!
ReplyDeleteThe mother/daughter paintings are special to me too! I'm so happy you see that bond or connection in them! Will be posting a new one in the next day or two and have a daddy/daughter commission in the works! I'm loving these!
