Merry Christmas!
"Waiting for Santa"
10" x 8" Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
Christmas Blessings and Happy Holidays to my wonderful blogging friends. Thanks to all who visit and leave encouraging comments! You are appreciated more than you know and I am forever grateful for your support!
May the new year bring you peace, happiness and good health with many creative opportunities.
In three days we will celebrate the beginning of Jade's fifth year with us and her ninth year of age (so far as we know). What a wonderful shelter find she was! This is the first portrait I've painted of her. Jade's friends are telling me this is the first time they've seen her mouth closed! She is very vocal and when not happily speaking to us, has a toy in her mouth squeaking away! Now I can't wait to paint her again. She's a long-haired or "coated" German Shepherd and weighs 92 pounds. Our darling!

DeleteAt first I thought it was a photo, Rosemary. this portrait of Jade is beautiful. You did an amazing job on her fur..!
ReplyDeleteThank Hilda! I see from your recent pastel portrait of RUDY, you know how much fun painting this fur can be, and it's always a challenge to keep it looking soft.
DeleteDear Rosemary - happened on your blog through Sherry's and your comment - your portrait of your shepherd is beautiful - I too have a lovely german shepherd - he is absolutely the best and I bet you feel the same about yours. Looks like you certainly caught the love for him in your painting. Hope you have a wonderful New Year and I will be stopping back.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by Debbie! Yes - our German Shepherds are
Deletewonderful and somehow we don't mind that they "own us" rather than vice versa!
Best wishes to you for the new year... I am going over to visit your blog right now!
Please come back soon.
What a beautiful painting of an absolutely gorgeous dog - you can feel your love for him!
ReplyDeleteWishing you and your family a very Happy New Year, Rosemary!
Oh Claire, what lovely comments and they are so appreciated! Happy New Year to you and your family. I see by your participation in Leslie Saeta's new challenge, you are off to a great creative start for 2013.
ReplyDeleteI saw this painting on Conservatively Bohemian's sidebar and just had to come over. I am now a cat person..but I have always loved dogs, particularly German Shepherds..no doubt because I grew up with "Rin-Tin-Tin". German Shepherds are the BEST! To me, they are the prettiest dogs on the planet. When I see photos of them (and in this case a beautiful painting!) my heart takes a leap. Congratulations on finding such a beautiful forever friend. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Celeste! We were indeed fortunate to have found Jade. She is a princess! I agree German Shepherds are the BEST! Your comments on the painting are really appreciated!
