18" x 24" Oil on Canvas panel
On June 23 I participated in another on line paint along class with
award winning master artist and instructor Johannes Vloothuis - Improve MyPaintings.com The beautiful reference
photo provided gave us mist covered rocky mountains to which I didn't
particularly relate. Much more
inspiring to look out my studio window and paint these Western North Carolina
mountains so dear to me. I did
use the lower portion of his photo to attempt the underwater logs, fallen
trees, etc. I'm not too pleased with the
way these turned out and may return to the easel and make them disappear. Overall, I'm happy with this one and am
learning more about landscape painting with each class. These classes are inexpensive, at least 6 to
8 hours long and a download is provided for future reference. Digital downloads are available for past
classes for a fee. Who knows - maybe I might become a landscape painter after all!
You did a wonderful job with these mountains, rosemary...I love how you painted the mist. I took the website and put it on "my favorites" in case I ever decide to do it...Sounds so interesting.!
ReplyDeleteThanks Hilda! Lots of "mist painters" in this area so guess it was my turn to take a stab at it! Was introduced to Pan Pastels with these classes. Wonder if you have tried them?
DeleteA beautiful painting, Rosemary. I wouldn't have known that you aren't a landscape painter.
ReplyDeletePat, as a plein air painter landscapes are easier for you and yours are magnificent! Mine have always seemed to lack "something" - but - I'm not giving up! Thanks so much for your encouragement!
DeleteI want to live there! I assumed landscapes were already in your portfolio ... beautiful picture, Rosemary
ReplyDeleteThank you John! What a lovely compliment! Landscapes are in my portfolio but I've never been comfortable with them. Working to change that!
DeleteSo happy to see a new painting, Rosemary. I must say that this is just gorgeous! Like John, I also want to live here. I like the tree under the water myself.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sherry! You and John put a smile on my face! I appreciate you and your comments so much!
DeleteYou've done a beautiful job with a deceptively difficult subject, Rosemary. I agree with Sherry that you may want to give the trees under the water a chance to remain. A little time and distance may help you more fully appreciate the charm and power of this painting.
ReplyDeleteMary - thank you so much! This one is on the wall - my husband is really fond of it - so the under water trees are staying at least for now!
