24" x 18" Oil on Prepared Hardboard
My January post told of the ballet slippers found on E-bay and how
much I'm enjoying the challenge of painting these toe shoes, especially the
shiny ribbons! In this piece I have
attempted to paint the shoes (shoe) as if they were new. With nieces and grand -nieces who dance, it's
not too difficult to find a model.
Is this one finished? I’m not
sure so will put it aside for a while and look at it later with a fresh eye. All and all, I'm pretty pleased with it.
After the February post, my blog comments were spammed so now when
you say something and I do so hope you will leave comments, they will require
approval. I'm sorry for the
inconvenience but guess it's necessary. Wonder
if any of you have had this problem?
Since I moderate all comments, I just don't post the spam comments and I don't get too many of those.
ReplyDeleteI so love this piece, Rosemary. I love ballet, beauty and strength in motion. Ballerinas are so beautiful and this one is no exception.
Sherry, thank you so much! Ballerinas are indeed beautiful no matter the age. I appreciate your stopping by with such nice comments! So far it seems to be working well with the moderating. There has been more spam to delete though!
DeleteBeautiful...as always!
ReplyDeleteThank you Autumn! As a favorite collector, your comments mean a lot to me!
DeleteYou do beautiful work - have always admired your pieces. I haven't had that problem, but then don't get many comments.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Lokelani! You know I appreciate your stopping by! We are mutual admirers of each others work! I am on my way over to see what you are doing!
DeleteRosemary, this is just beautiful and sentimental. Love it.
ReplyDeleteYes I have the spam problems. I don't like the word puzzles so I have started monitoring. I think we get fewer comments. Sigh....
Great seeing you Jo! Thanks for your warm comments! So far the monitoring seems to be working - I have had to delete three "spams" so far!
DeleteWhat a beautiful, warm and enchanting painting. This is exquisite! My youngest granddaughter just started taking ballet, so this is especially nice for me to see :)
ReplyDeleteYour generous comments are very much appreciated! No doubt you will be painting a little ballerina soon! Thanks so much!
DeleteThis is absolutely beautiful Rosemary, you should be very pleased ! There is such a sweetness and warmth to this painting.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jane. It seemed I was taking chances with the extreme lighting on this one but it seems to have worked! So nice of you to stop by and comment!
DeleteRosemary, you do such beautiful figure paintings. Especially the ballerinas! So soft and graceful. Those slippers were a good investment!
ReplyDeletePat, thank you so much! These slippers are more challenging than anticipated but so much fun! I appreciate your comments!
DeleteRosemary this is phenomenal...it looks finished to me but sometimes that is the hardest decision a painter has to make. What a wonderful subject and so lovely.
ReplyDeleteI have never had a problem with spam but I have heard others have so perhaps I should check this out.
Oh Debbie! Thank you! Thank you! My husband always tries to get me to stop working on a painting before I feel it's finished. Sometimes I listen - usually I don't and those times I'm often sorry! :-)
DeleteHope you never have a spam problem but the monitoring is working just fine.
Hi Rosemary, Love this painting, I saw in on facebook. You do people so well, you do everything so well. lol
ReplyDeleteThanks Barb! What a lovely thing to say! So nice of you to stop by. I'm loving your textured pieces. So glad you post on FB too!

This is really beautiful work, Rosemary, with a classical feel to it. The lighting is most effective. Well done!
