Meet Baby Addison
8 x 10 Oil on Canvas
This painting celebrates the arrival of a beautiful granddaughter for our good friends, Joyce and Mike, parents of mother, Jill. I tried to capture the joy reflected in Jill's eyes from the reference photo taken by the baby's dad. Little Addison was born just before Thanksgiving which seemed perfect timing to me! They live in New Jersey and this evening "Grammy Joyce" is flying north with this first portrait of her little angel! I enjoyed every brush stroke in this painting!
Yesterday I learned that one of two oil paintings accepted in the Fort Myers, Florida juried show, Feb Fest, has won an award! Yea & Yipee! The judge,
Greg Biolchini is a fabulous artist whose work I have long admired! It is a thrill being juried in and this award is indeed an honor! Feb Fest is at the Art League of Fort Myers Gallery, 1451 Monroe Street, and will hang through February 25th. I'm looking forward to the reception tomorrow evening!

ReplyDeleteHey Rosemary, Lovely work! The baby is soooooooooo cute and innocent. The motherhood feeling is well painted. I am amazed! Keep it up and congratulations........:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful painting (and beautiful mommy and baby), Rosemary! I am truly intrigued by the depth of color you get in your oil paintings. In fact, all of you artists that work in oils manage it and yet I am at a loss to figure out how! (I see it in the cream of the backdrop of the couch, I guess it is?)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your award too!
Thank you for stopping by, Rishi. I really appreciate your comments!
ReplyDeleteSylviane and Megha - Thank you, Thank you! This is the first time I've painted a tiny baby with it's face showing! I really appreciate your comments. Sylviane, you do a great job with expression in the eyes! You inspire me!
ReplyDeleterosemary...what a beautiful gift and fantastic painting... you can feel the love and excitement.... congrats on your award... well deserved!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sherry! I appreciate your comments as to the depth of color! I most often work in glazes to build depth. For the back of the couch, I used traces of all the colors in the painting. The left background photographed black - it isn't! It's a warm dark.
ReplyDeleteYea Cindi - You're back! I've missed you! I'm so glad the "feeling" of the painting comes through. Thanks re the award! I'm humbled and pleased. Now I'm off to your blog to see your new piece!
ReplyDeleteVery nice painting, Rosemary.
ReplyDeleteI myself will never forget the expression in my wifes eyes when our first daughter was born 43 years ago.
You have captured that look here.
Rosemary, absolutely lovely! Such a beautiful painting of mom and baby. And congratulations on your award, I know it was an honor.
ReplyDeleteGary, Thank you so much! Your relating the expression in Jill's eyes to that of your wife's as a new mother gives me confidence that I achieved my goal! I can't tell you how much I appreciate your sharing that!
